Failing. Not failed!
We are failing everyday and that is how a startup is different. It is a daily struggle to not be part of the ‘90% who failed’.
I started in 2012 and it has been quite a journey till Roo Kids Chat App. Always a right time to look back and revisit the lessons learnt. For the journey is not over yet.
Get Set, Go – The First Few Months in 2012
Gungroo was build with the vision of a safe & secure messaging for kids. That is how we started and that is what we are today. But somewhere along the way …
Private Family Network
The product started as a private network for families where an admin could allow kids logins to be created (without an email) and family members joining using their email address.
Priya Sengupta is a professional writer & a travel enthusiast who loves exploring new places and pen down the experience. She reviews kids apps and has strong opinions about what a kids app should be like. She wrote up about Roo Kids.
Roo Kids has been marketed as a safe and fun IM (instant messaging app) for kids. What WhatsApp is for adults, Roo Kids is for kids. The app comes with some safety features that allow parents to have control over the interaction. The app is targeted towards kids between the ages of 6 and 12 years. As more parents are looking to provide their kids with a digital exposure from the beginning years, app like Roo Kids is gaining ground.
Kids are meant to chat, share pictures (already on the phone) and send doodles to friends. The app does not facilitate direct camera access but kids can always click a picture from the device’s own gallery and use the picture in the Roo Kids chat box. Other parental controls include setting curfew hours when the life chat is disabled (when it’s time for study or sleep), notification when a contact/group is added and bad word filter (replacing bad words with ****). The messaging/chatting is carried over an SSL server, meaning that there would be no third party intrusion.
Other reviews like on Common Sense Media rates Roo Kids attaches a 4/5 rating to the app.
What can go wrong?
Digital technology has been growing and thus no surprise that kids aren’t quite immune to it. Too much of anything is bad. The only question with Roo Kid is whether it’s just another way to integrate technology into our lifestyle or whether Roo Kids really does some good for kids. True that the app does provide an educational platform with puzzles, games drawing tools and other features. However, it also goes wrong in several facets. The banned word feature for instance is only active only if the concerned work is followed by an exclamation/punctuation. Secondly, parents can set the curfew hours but it doesn’t stop a kid from writing messages, drawing or use the app otherwise. Just the life chat feature is turned off.
Some work is still needed. But, this is an awesome start!
You must have noticed that nowadays kids are greatly fascinated by electronic gadgets of various kinds. With development of science and technology, kids are getting addicted to such things. The coming of smartphones, iPads, iPods and other electronic equipments has become a great source of entertainment for the kids. You will notice that children can spend hour after hour with these gadgets. Rather than running and playing or other physical activities, kids are now more interested in these kinds of devices and the games that can be played there.
In today’s world it is not possible to keep children away from technology, but parents need to know as how to maintain the perfect balance on the use of technology. There should be a fixed time when kids should be allowed to use the devices and equipments during the day or in the week. For instance, smaller kids should be allowed to use and play on these devices on holidays and on weekends for a fixed time. However, older kids might need to use the computer or other sources for their studies etc. Strict parental control is required when your kids are using these devices and gadgets.
Using smartphones, iPads, and computers with internet connectivity without parental vigilance can lead to serious problems as the kid might fall into a trap unknowingly. With children knowing about social media, they might want to look for their friends and talk to them online. However, this might attract attention of fraudsters and might create problems.
Roo Kids is a great instant messaging app for kids where they can talk to their friends. The best thing about the app is that it has very strong parental controls. The app can is available at https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/roo-kids/id853763668?mt=8. When such apps are developed, you can let your kid use technology without any kinds of fears.

While WhatsApp was acquired for 19 billion dollars by Facebook, there is really no dearth of chatting applications in Google’s app store. The variety is so huge that you can in fact keep a separate app for a separate group of friends! However, only few apps make to the devices and the reasons being a uniqueness of design and functionality.
BlueChatBox might look basic to the normal users but this messaging/chatting app packs huge number of features to make it a unique download.
The BlueChatBox integrates messaging over internet connection, public / group chats, nearby (proximity) chat, message translation and even allowing you to create infinite number of groups. The best thing with BlueChatBox however is better control on what you choose to share and see. BlueChatBox comes with a simplistic interface (sometimes it can be compared to the WhatsApp messaging interface). If you had ever used WeChat, BlueChatBox also gives you have the facility to chat with strangers (several hundreds of online users who have set their privacy to public).
The translations module, something unique to any chatting/messaging app, of BlueChatBox is quite powerful too. This will especially help you talk to online users in a different part of the world and speaking in a different language.
Another great tool integrated into the app is the nearby or proximity chat. This would not only help you engage in a friendly conversation with people in the same environment but even ask directions and instructions to nearby places. You are never out of friends and probably you can even call someone up for dinner in a new city!
Other than this BlueChatBox allows you to customize chat backgrounds, decorate text messages with a variety of emotions, use multiple status icons to show your mood and is offered as a free service!
All of it makes BlueChatBox a great app to try out.

An incredible way to test your memory power, this app has been designed to make your kids better in problem solving and cognitive abilities. Suited for preschool boys and girls, the Kids Memory Matching Game could be fun, engaging and productive.
We have had memory matching apps for a long time now but this certainly will feature in the best list. The Kids Memory Matching Game allows flipping cards and scoring if you can perfectly recollect the items shown in your cards.
At times, the Kids Memory Matching Game can really be addictive and every point scored boosts the confidence for a higher level. Kids will love competing with their friends and this will facilitate a time well spent on mobile phones rather than fiddling with disturbing music and similar apps.
Everything is so calculative about Kids Memory Matching Game. The app has an intuitive interface that will help your kid memorize better and make better connection not just in the game but in other things in life too. At least the app is aimed towards it.
Overall, Kids Memory Matching Game is a good puzzle game to try out.
Infection is a board game about diseases and medicines and requires more than one player. Similar to playing cards, there are a lot or rules to the game, however, when one fully understands the premises, it can become quite enjoyable and addictive.
Infection is all about learning to play your cards right. With so many rules, it will take time to know the game. For most users, this will be a setback. However, if you have been looking for a game to engage with your friends or group of friends, this can be a good option.
As already said, if you know this game, only then can you expect to fully take the advantage. Players have a variety of puzzles to solve involving all kinds of diseases one has ever heard. This is certainly a one of a kind game made in this category.
Infection does provide an intuitive interface to play your turn. The screen space has been beautifully used and the tools are kept quite handy if one if using a touch screen device.
Overall, Infection could be quite addictive, but I personally wouldn’t like to spend the time learning how to make the moves.
Slingshot is a fun game and the simplest way to kill your time. A game concept that has been famous for several decades now, this is as casual as it can get.
All you can expect to take back from the game is your hand eye coordination and your aiming abilities. Slingshot is all about fun by bursting bubbles. All kids, teenagers and adults will love the game and sometimes could even be an addiction. Keep on bursting until the weekend is over and it’s time to go to office!
Fun lies in simplicity and it is best presented by Slingshot. This app allows one to lie back and tab through the screen all through the day. No stress on your brains, no stress on your eyes, just pre fun.
We would like to thank the developer of Slingshot for an amazing game in this category. For those looking to take a break from the heavy apps making the round and clinging down your phone memory, Slingshot comes as a darling!
Overall, Slingshot has been very well conceptualized and designed. There are enough reasons to have it in your pockets when regardless of your gaming genre.
A fantastic bike racing game, Motocross Challenge is something new on offer in this highly competitive category. Quite challenging, it will take only a passionate rider to complete the levels as they present themselves.
The app size is large (23M) and may take some time to download.
This is a racing game meant for pure fun, adventure and kills your time when you have nothing better to do. However, it does improve your hand eye coordination as do every other game in the racing category. Play and forget.
Motocross Challenge can become quite addictive after you get the hang of it. It will take a couple of races and failure to get really engrossed in the challenges. Completing each level is self satisfying and unlike other parking games, this provides the player a great elastomania!
The game is high upon graphics and the stunts portrayed therein are quite close to real life scenarios. The designer had made adequate use of the screen space. Biking is serious fun and the tools are at easy reach.
Overall, if you are looking for a racing game to adorn your smart phone, Motocross Challenge is something you can download. A perfect snack for timepass.
